![]() ![]() Matter of fact I am really thinking of starting a consulting business just deploying System Center or creating it in the Cloud and using it to manage otter peoples IT info-structures. Basically, I would never work in a company that wasn't using Systems Center anymore. Sorry, I get excited when talking about Systems Center, I need a cigarette now. Can do compliance checking for HIPPA, SOX, creaer LUNS through Powershell on NetApp storage using Orchestrator to automatically spin up VM's and add to load balancer to maintain a certain level of application performance and then remove them if the demand decreases. The management packs alone take all the knowledge of the experts and put it into a a plugin which can be installed in a single click. I am now able to manage thousands of computers with 2 people where before we had a hard time managing a few hundred computers with legacy tools like Solarwinds. Being exposed to Systems Center has changed my career. The suite of tool provided through Systems Center 2012 R2, I.E, SCOM, Virtual Machine Manager, SCCM, etc. If you are going to be an IT guy you must learn two things to be viable in the future, Powershell and Systems Center. The computers were ready to go before the users got to work. I recently rolled out a new antivirus suite one department per day with a midnight deployment. You can add a computer to an application's collection, and the computer will install it on the next policy refresh - no more manually installing software on each computer. It's also great for one-off application installs and software rollouts. It'll install the OS, set the computer name, join the domain, and install the appropriate software.Īfter the install, you'll just need to go and move them to the appropriate OU, and remove them from the OS deployment task sequence. You'd import a file with the MAC addresses and computer names, add them to the collection with the OS deployment, and watch the magic happen when you PXE boot. If you have a naming scheme that you can break apart, you can set packages to install based on a naming filter. It uses WDS for the OS deployment, then the SCCM agent for software deployment. What do I do next? I would think I can boot a 2nd mac holding down "n" or "option" and boot from the mini server but the 2nd mac does not see it as an option. I then run "DeployStudio Runtime" and highlight an ext bootable computer mounted and tell it to run (takes about an hour) ![]() Where it says "source base system" I have tried both "current boot" and also some other compeers that were mounted to the server in target disk mode. I then "Create a DeployStudio NetBoot set" Using network share point (afp://192.168.1.xx/repository) I have run the "Set up a DeployStudio Server" What I have done: Setup 10.9 server DNS is up and working Setup a file sharing NetInstall is running with listed images My goal is to setup a Mac Mini Server with a number of images that will allow a 2nd Mac to boot from the network and image it self with. I am missing something very basic but am not sure what it is.
